We ordered katsu don, salmon poke bowl and a croquette and everything was so good tasted really like Japanese style. And we got there a bit late today, we just didn’t notice it was almost the closing time, and the staff still let us in. Reasonable price and friendly staff with yummy food, happy dinner!

Craving for something warm in winter and this place is a gem. Ramen is so good, tonkotsu soup is rich and portion is too much, reasonable price and staff is very friendly.

I’ve been to Japan and this restaurant felt like I was back. From the food (obviously) to the servers themselves, it was all so authentic and well priced. Limited seating but that is how it is in Japan too. Totally recommend trying this place out if you get the chance.

Chaya has been in Banff for many years. Located on the main street area. It is one of our go to restaurants when visiting Banff for a quick bite. They have good variety of Japanese food like ramen, udon, soba, curry rice and gyoza, etc. Authentic Japanese ramen noodles, no frills, simple but tasty traditional Japanese food here. It is a small place but busy most of the time. Go early if you can to get a table. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast service as well. We ordered Shoyu ramen, Toukotsu ramen and gyoza. All very tasty for us. Totally brought us back to the Japan trip memories of their local noodle shops. Highly recommended! Will be back in our next visit to Banff.

Hidden gem in Banff! The food was just amazing and the portions are very big! They are an extremely busy place with very little seating, so we waited a little bit to get a table, but it’s absolutely worth it. I hope one day they are able to expand their business to a bigger space because I think everyone should try this delicious ramen. The staff is also so sweet and friendly, the food came out quick and it was just overall a nice experience.

We visit Chaya every time we visit Banff! My husband likes their rice, and my daughter and I like noodles and ramen. The staff is very polite and helpful. Thanks

This place is a hidden gem. Though I am from India and only eat chicken and eggs, the server recommended excellent choices. vegetable ramen was excellent( I asked for extra seasame oil as I prefer it). After 12 hrs of hike and no food, this place was heaven. It was very quaint and small restaurant and actually reminded me of my time in Kyoto. Please support local and visit them when in Banff.

Really nice staff! Really wonderful food! The noodles had a springiness you won't find elsewhere. Some people will use noodles from other countries of origins and call it a day, but not here! This was really fresh. Plus the Toppings:Noodles:Broth ratio was perfect! Their Onigiri was the super traditional way, but there was a lot more rice to fillings, but the soy sauce helped. Glad I came early enough. Because the crowds built up quickly after.
